It meets for 10 weeks\, with six fieldtrips and four class sessions (class sessions meet at the NBSC). Fieldtrips will explore parks throughout the Bay Area\, such as Martinez and Del Valle Regional Parks\, Baylands Preserve and Shollenberger Park in Petaluma. The class will concentrate on raptor and shorebird biology and identification\, and also includes discussion of field-guides and binocular use. Among the 75 plus species we frequently see on class outings are raptors such as Red-tail hawks\, White-tail kites and Kestrels\, Pintail\, Green-wing Teal\, Shoveler and Gadwall ducks; Acorn\, Nuttall’s\, Flickers and Downy woodpeckers\, and shorebirds such as Killdeer\, godwits\, Long-billed Curlews and Willets. Car-pooling available for field trips. \n
