Occasionally we catch a view of the nesting Bald Eagles found here, flying over the reservoir. Woodlands are alive with the sound of warblers, finches, flycatchers, nuthatches, chickadees and titmice, among others. Butterflies frequent the edges of the woodlands, such as skippers, swallowtails, admirals and Painted ladies. This trip is always a favorite East Bay destination for its diversity of sights, sounds and birdlife. Parking fee; walking distance moderate, with some uneven terrain, 1-2 miles. Good woodland photography.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
In all but name San Pablo Reservoir is one of our most scenic local lakes, surrounded by thousands of acres of deciduous and conifer woodland.
