Simply put, Bolinas and the Marin coast are Bay Area natural and cultural treasures. This West Marin day trip to the secluded village of Bolinas will demonstrate why: the soaring Bolinas Ridge and the pristine Pacific coastline, thick coastal woodlands and the lagoon itself, with Osprey, terns, shorebirds, ducks and grebes swimming and flying over the marshes. After hiking a riparian trail and noting the heron rookery near the village, we’ll stop for lunch at the Coastal Café. In the afternoon we’ll drop by noted local artist Keith Hansen’s studio filled with extraordinary bird paintings. Low to moderate amounts of walking, level terrain. Good nature photography opportunities.
