Elkhorn Slough Estuarine Preserve, Moss Landing
July 6, 2013 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Elkhorn Slough, situated in the middle of Monterey Bay, has a fabled reputation as one of the greatest concentrations of marine mammals (sea otters and seals) and birdlife found anywhere on the California coast. The preserve and the surrounding area has a great variety of wetlands, seacoast, ponds, beautiful beaches and woodlands. We can expect to see pelicans, ducks, shorebirds and terns, plus raptors, cormorants, grebes, songbirds and perhaps owls, as well as Sea Otters and seals. Bring or buy lunch at Moss Landing. Walking is at a casual pace, about two miles.
