Merced/San Luis National Wildlife Refuge

Merced NWR is one of several San Joaquin Valley preserves that comprise the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge. Together the refuges total more than 50,000 acres. This combination of marshes, ponds, riparian areas and farmlands host many thousands of birds, such as ducks, owls, geese, shorebirds, Sandhill Cranes, raptors and songbirds. One of the most exciting wildlife concentrations in the valley. Bring lunch and drinks; tour is mostly by car, with minimal walking. 9am – 4pm.
