Santa Cruz, on the northern end of Monterey Bay, is famed as a friendly college town. But it is also studded with wonderful parks and bordered by rocky shorelines, all with great numbers of birds. Natural areas include ponds, ocean headlands and inlets, wetlands, beaches and redwood forests. We will try to sample as many areas as possible. Ducks, raptors, shorebirds, grebes, pelicans, woodpeckers and songbirds are numerous in different locations. Minimal walking, broken up by short drives to different areas.
