SUMMARY:Birds of the Alameda Shoreline and Crab Cove
DESCRIPTION:The Alameda shoreline\, with miles of sandy white beaches and stunning views of the bay\, is one of our local environmental treasures. During the fall and winter it is also a magnet for hundreds of shorebirds — dunlin\, godwits\, peeps\, curlews\, plover\, avocets and stilts\, with lesser numbers of turnstones and oystercatchers — totaling thousands of birds. During a morning walk we usually see over 40 different species of shorebirds\, egrets\, grebes and ducks\, sometimes in great numbers. Best of all\, it’s part of a relaxing morning of beautiful beaches\, salt air and panoramic views of the bay. Too good to be true? Come see for yourself. Good opportunities for bird and marine photography.
